Manor Lane Breakdown Crane

Another of the Manor Lane fleet has appeared on depot recently, that being the Manor Lane Breakdown Crane.

59 203 'Vale Of Pickering'  was provided for use during some test running of this highly detailed TRIX model, which is in fact a fully working vehicle with three on board motors and a digital system all of it's own, there is even a panel of eight 'DIP' switches for certain operating modes!

Class 59/2 - Fleet management

Manor Lane's six Class 59/2 Locomotive's have returned to barracks, for fitment of a superior new traction package.

The Loco's are :

59201    Vale of York
59202    Vale of White Horse
59203    Vale of Pickering
59204    Vale of Glamorgan
59205    L Keith McNair
59206    Pride of Ferrybridge

Each of the six Loco's are highly detailed Lima models, based on those working in London and the South East for a good few years now.

Each Loco. has been completely repainted from the bare plastic up, and had many extra details added such as full buffer beam detail at both ends and body side fire extinguishing equipment. Etched metal name and number panels have been added along with various livery details such as differing light clusters and window surrounds, peculiar to each Loco. and as observed in traffic. Finally, each Loco. has been weathered to differing degrees, representing the effect of long days and nights on the iron road.

However, although on-board digital control was fitted and works well to this day, the original Lima motors were never replaced and have always been a real let down whenever putting these models to work.

Improvements in haulage capability are not initially expected, however, smoother and more reliable running are the intention for now !

More details will follow shortly regarding this project..............

Out On 'The Manor'

Despite lots of activity on a new 2mm layout called Joan Croft Junction, 'Manor Lane TMD' has again become active in preparation for another mass clearout.

A large number of items are being prepared for sale but a core fleet will still be kept, consisting of the more detailed and unique one-off vehicles, contrary to earlier plans which did not take these into account.

The Manor Lane Hospitality Train............is definitely still going.

One Loco. that will be staying however, is 33 201, pictured above, along with such rarities as our 'Salmon' wagons.

Please watch this space for more details..............
